ROLLA, N.D. – The trial for a Rolette man charged in a fatal shooting in July 2018 has been continued.
Ronald Wootan faces a series of charges in two case files, including murder.
Wootan was supposed to stand trial in Rolla starting Tuesday, but the courts approved a last-minute continuance.
The 50-year-old Wootan is accused of killing 26-year-old James “Joe” Pochant, and of firing at a SWAT truck during an ensuing standoff.
A new trial date has not been set.
He faces the chance of life in prison if convicted on the AA-felony murder charge.
