Trial begins in Minot attempted murder case

MINOT, N.D. - Jury selection has begun in the trial of a Minot man accused of breaking into a home last August and opening fire.

Prosecutors have charged 45-year-old Travis Yoney with six counts, including A-felony attempted murder.

Investigators say Yoney fired a 22-caliber rifle at a southwest Minot home on Aug. 23.

They say he forced his way in and fired again at a 30-year-old victim, but missed.

The victim managed to subdue Yoney until police arrived. He faces up to 20 years in prison on the A-felony charge if convicted.

The trial is scheduled to run through Thursday.
