Transformer Fire in Mandan Shuts Down Power for 400 Customers

MANDAN, ND- 6:00 a.m. - Power has been restored to all residents. No outages at this time.

4:00 a.m. - MDU Workers put out a fire on a transformer just before 4 this morning in Mandan.

The fire on the pole on Sunset drive and Boundary knocked out power to several hundred customers.

At 4 a.m. there were 400 outages reported.

Crews say they don't know what caused the fire but they worked quickly to extinguish it.

There's no word yet on when full power will be restored to customers in the area, but MDU estimates it will be at least until 5:30 a.m.
