Traffic congestion between Bismarck, Mandan expected to last through the fall

BISMARCK, N.D. - Delays are piling up on the highway between Bismarck and Mandan, and the congestion is going to last through the fall.

The Department of Transportation hopes to finish the work on I-94 by late November. They say traffic backups happen mainly from 7:30 to 8 am and 3:30 to 6 pm, and that it typically slows people down by around fifteen minutes. The Department says that about twenty four thousand people drive through these areas in a day. DOT has some tips for making the commute quicker.

"Let those guys in, merge in with you coming off the ramps, that would help a lot. Take off earlier if you can so you can still get where you want to go on time," said Bernerd Southam, Project Manager.

For questions you can find the I- 94 Mandan Bismarck Highway project on Facebook, Southam says they are trying to answer all the questions they get there.
