STARK COUNTY, N.D. - A Hebron-area farmer had a close call with a train near his farm.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says 34 year-old Mitch Erdle was driving a tractor and pulling a drill, a grain cart, and two anhydrous ammonia tanks.
Monday morning when he failed to stop for the marked railroad tracks the train hit the last anhydrous tank, which was thrown into the ditch.
The tank did not rupture and no hazardous materials were released.
No injuries were reported.
Erdle was charged with failure to stop for railroad crossing marked with stop sign.
