BISMARCK, N.D. - UPDATE (2:18 p.m.): Brand has been charged with two counts of terrorizing.
His initial appearance is Thursday afternoon.
ORIGINAL STORY: Bismarck police say three weapons were taken into evidence after the barricaded subject incident in Bismarck Wednesday evening.
Public Information Officer, Lt. Luke Gardiner says more information is coming out about how the situation started on the 2500 Block of Centennial Road.
Gardiner says it all began when a neighbor’s dog was in the yard of the home where suspect, 43-year-old Scott Brand was staying.
Police say Brand’s girlfriend got the gun from him and gave it to a neighbor after he was accused of pointing a rifle at them.
Officers say the girlfriend was inside the home around 7:14 p.m. when the call came into authorities but got out “long before” he was arrested.
The standoff concluded around 11:25 p.m. after law enforcement dispatched CS gas into the home and arrested Brand.
Gardiner says they had a search warrant and arrest warrant for Brand. Officers took in three weapons including an AR15, a shotgun, and a bolt action rifle.
Brand was arrested for terrorizing but no charges have been posted yet.
