BISMARCK, ND- Theo Art School has been offering summer camp for years. This year the students are taking a trek through the history of art.
"We're doing a sunset, and I like blending all the colors to make it look like a sunset. So, I like making a lot of colors," says Jasmyn Gildea, a fifth grade camper.
Liliana Norby, the executive director of Art Trek Camp, says kids from preschool to middle school can come to her camp to receive art experience they might not be offered by their school. She says she hopes to provide an affordable option for kids who enjoy art as much as she does.
"What we offer is an art experience that will last a lifetime," Norby says.
During camp, kids are exposed to different mediums of art, local artists and art teachers, and weekly themes throughout art history.
Norby says one of her favorite parts of camp is getting to choose each week's theme.
"Every week I am going to have something that I really, really like. After 11 years, I still get those goose bumps. It's like, 'what am I going to do next?'" Norby explains.
Norby says she loves learning new things from the artists with her campers, but the most important thing is the friendships her kids make.
