BISMARCK, N.D. - The Bismarck Depot has always been a representation of the city and now the 117 year old building is up for sale, again.
Dale Zimmerman says he and his wife had the idea to turn the property into a green space for the community - their attempt -to attract millennials and keep them here.
According to Zimmerman, the building had serious structural issues and they went through about $3 million to just save the bones. They also opened up Edwinton Brewery, which he plans to keep and lease from the future owner.
“We feel the best way to get this master plan off the ground is to sell the block of land and the building to someone else, a foundation or charity, so they can continue the work on the outside,” said Zimmerman.
According to Zimmerman, the building was caving in on itself and after these repairs, he expects the building to be saved for another 100 years. For more information on the property you can go to http://danielcompanies.com/uploads/projectImages/1230/21401EMainBismarck.pdf
