Suspect in Minot shooting turns himself in

MINOT, N.D. – Minot Police say the suspect in a shooting Monday afternoon in the southwest part of town turned himself in to authorities.

Police took 27-year-old Joseph Thompson III into custody Tuesday, after issuing a warrant for his arrest.

Investigators say Thompson broke into a garage in the 10 block of 16th Avenue SW Monday afternoon and opened fire into a residence.

None of the people inside were hit by a round. Thompson was an acquaintance of theirs.

Thompson remains in custody pending his initial court appearance. Thompson will face eight felony counts in total, including six counts of reckless endangerment, one count of burglary and one count of terrorizing.
