SURREY, ND - The Surrey Public School board has voted to cancel school Fri., Feb. 14, after a rash of flu cases prompted dozens of students, and some staff members, to miss school, according to School Board President Ron Aberle and the school district official website.
Aberle confirmed the news with Your News Leader.
Roughly 70 students missed school one day this week due to illness, according to Aberle.
The school board elected not to cancel class Thurs., Feb. 13, due to the short notice, Aberle said. According to the district website, parents are encouraged to keep students home Thursday if their child is sick, and the absence will not count against them.
Girls district basketball will continue as scheduled, according to the website.
