Sunflower dryer catches fire in Bottineau

BOTTINEAU, N.D. – A dryer with sunflower caught fire Friday morning at an elevator site in Bottineau, according to the site’s general manager.

The dryer on Railroad Avenue, operated by Border Ag and Energy, caught fire around 10 a.m.

A viewer submitted cell phone footage of the fire to Your News Leader.

Bottineau Fire Department responded.

General Manager Wayne Johnson said the fires are a relatively common occurrence.

Johnson said the fire was out in roughly an hour, and there were minimal product losses.
