'Sully' Sullenberger to speak at FMCA convention Thursday in Minot
The Family Motor Coach Association's 100th annual convention continues in Minot, and Capt. Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, known for the “Miracle on the Hudson,” will be the featured speaker Thursday night.
Sullenberger and his crew safely guided U.S. Airways Flight 1549 to an emergency water landing in New York's frigid Hudson River more than 10 years ago, after the plane was hit by bird strike, saving the lives of all 155 people on board.
His heroics were the focus of the 2016 film “Sully” starring Tom Hanks.
Sully now serves as an aviation safety expert and inspirational speaker, and Thursday, during his presentation called “208 Seconds: A Lifetime of Lessons,” he will speak on the important lessons he learned throughout his life, in the military, and as a commercial pilot that made it possible for him to take immediate and heroic action when called upon.
His talk is at 8 p.m. at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds.
