Students perform blood type tests

BISMARCK, N.D. - Medical students at Bismarck State College are building experience while asking "what's your blood type?"

Medical lab technician students were running blood type tests in the student union on campus, and all it takes is a finger poke. They were encouraging people to donate blood, and educating them about the different blood types.

"They're able to get that life experience, share their knowledge. They're able to reach back to some of the classes they took and to tell people how common certain blood types are and things like that," said Mari Volk, program director.

The medical lab technician course is one of the classes moving into the new health sciences building in the fall.
