BISMARCK, N.D. - The Bismarck city commission has voted to put the Bowen Avenue Commercial Center on the market.
The city purchased the property in 2010. It currently has two tenants: Tobacco Row and Aerus Electrolux.
During the commission's meeting on Tuesday night, City Administrator Keith Hunke said they are having difficulty meeting the revenue requirements for the strip mall.
The city has a right of first refusal agreement with Bismarck Industries. That means the company has 30 days to decide if they would like to purchase the property.
If they do, they must get two appraisals of fair market value. Once that is done, Bismarck Industries has 10 days to go ahead with buying the property or declining to purchase it.
If they decide not to buy, the city would then be able to sell the area as it sees fit.
