The United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement has passed Congress and is waiting on the president's signature.
Stockmen's Association president Dan Rorvig says they're glad to see the agreement open trade between the three countries. He says the association would like to see some fixes to Country of Origin Labeling, but that it should come from the industry and not the government.
"Anytime you put anything mandatory or regulated the costs escalate to the Nth degree, and somebody's going to pay that and it's probably not going to be the consumer. It's going to be the producers, those of us that are kind of on the bottom end of the food chain," said Rorvig.
Rorvig says an industry led standard would work better for all involved.
