State leaders preparing for spring flooding

BISMARCK, N.D. - State leaders are already preparing for possible spring flooding.

Meteorologists with the National Weather Service say the three months between August and October were the wettest on record for North Dakota.

“The wetness we've experienced over the past few months is greater than once-in-a-generation,” said Allen Schlag, NWS hydrologist.

Over the next few months, state leaders say nearly a dozen state agencies will work together to make sure flood response and recovery plans are in place.

They'll also work to make sure property owners and communities can protect themselves.
