Stanley man dies in Highway 2 crash

STANLEY, N.D. – The North Dakota Highway Patrol says that a 95-year-old man died in a crash on Highway 2 Wednesday morning near Stanley after losing control of his truck.

They say the man was headed west on Highway 2 roughly a half-mile out of Stanley when his truck began to fishtail. The victim managed to bring the car back on the road facing north, but a westbound dump truck collided with the truck on its passenger side, sending it into the ditch.

The driver of the dump truck, a 35-year-old Stanley man, returned to the scene to render aid.

The victim was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. His name is being withheld pending family notification.
