On Wednesday, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe declared a state of emergency related to drug, and sex crimes.
In the resolution, the tribe says they’ve seen an unusual increase in drug usage on the Reservation.
They add, the increase in distribution and narcotics has also led to the rise of missing, murdered and indigenous people.
The resolution states the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe is asking for assistance from the United States Department of Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and other federal agencies to assist in the drug epidemic.
