MARMARTH, N.D. - State oil regulators say 40 barrels of source water left a well pad and affected rangeland after a pipeline leak near Marmarth on Saturday.
Department of Environmental Quality leaders say source water is used for enhanced oil recovery. It's higher in dissolved solids than fresh water, but lower in chlorides than produced water.
The Denbury onshore pipeline leaked about 250 barrels in total.
Investigators say a damaged gasket caused the spill.
