Small engine plane crashes in South Fargo

At approximately 4:30 p.m., a small engine plane crashed in a field in South Fargo near the Wild Rice River.
The preliminary investigation identified the pilot suffered an in-flight emergency shortly after taking off from Hector Field Airport and was possibly trying to make an emergency landing.
The pilot, a 55-year-old male, was killed in the crash. He was the only occupant of the aircraft, a 1973 Cessna Model 340.
The FAA is investigating the crash, and they ask any witnesses to contact them at 492-5800.
