MINOT, N.D. - For more than 20 years, Slumberland Furniture has given warm beds to needy community members. This holiday season they are giving more.
Slumberland Furniture in Minot is donating 15 mattress sets and bed frames with the help of Community Action. In addition, Our Redeemers Church will be donating quilts.
As part of the "Making Homes for the Holidays" program, Slumberland Furniture stores across the country are donating mattresses and box springs to families in need.
Since 1993, the stores have donated more than 28,000 mattresses; impacting communities, like ours, across the country.
"Knowing that we're giving kids a bed to sleep in, it's so important because the well being of a child being able to actually sleep in a bed versus on the floor only helps with all the statistics that you hear about in school and well being and health and what not," said Emily Mackner, Slumberland Minot owner.
Slumberland donates mattresses year around through the "40 Winks Foundation". If you know a nonprofit that would like to work with Slumberland on this project, or need a mattress, you can contact the Minot store.
