BISMARCK, N.D. - The 150th anniversary of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks is this weekend.

Senator John Hoeven this week submitted a statement into the Senate recognizing the milestone of The Elks. He says the American fraternal society is dedicated to serving and caring for our citizens, communities, and country.

The Order has nearly one million members with 2,000 lodges nationwide.

"This is the 150th anniversary of the elks and the elks does many good works whether it's on behalf of our veterans, our youth, our communities. I'm very pleased to be a long standing member of the elks as my father was before me. So happy 150th birthday," said Senator John Hoeven, (R) North Dakota.

The Bismarck-Mandan Elks lodge has 39 hundred members and is located on Washington Street.
