NEW SALEM, N.D. - A $7.65 million bond referendum has failed for the New Salem-Almont School District, based on unofficial results.

According to a post from the district's Facebook page, there were 193 votes for, and 536 votes against. The money would have gone toward an expansion of the elementary school, and additional classrooms and a renovation of the high school.

The results will be certified during the next school board meeting.
