Santa, Old Dominion visit Sanford Children’s Hospital
The kids at Sanford Children's Hospital spent the morning with smiles on their faces, all thanks to a special visitor. Country band Old Dominion showed up, but for most of the kids, it was Santa that was the big hit.
Holiday joy was abundant on Thursday morning at the Sanford Children's Hospital.
“To make a child smile is what Santa is all about,” said Santa.
Santa and Old Dominion spent time smiling and laughing with the kids.
“It's really nice, especially around this time of year,” patient Chelsea Bennis said. “I feel like especially for like the kids like this is hard, you know, they don't want to be in the hospital. They want to be at home by the tree getting presents.”
Kids of all ages got to share their wishes with Santa.
“He told me he was going to pray for me that I don't have to be in here until Christmas,” said Bennis.
“You know that they probably have a lot of tough days so it’s just like when you see them light up and they're not thinking about anything else about how happy they are, it’s awesome,” the band said.
And for the band, it's a chance to share some smiles before they take to the stage in Bismarck.
“One of our favorite parts of our shows too is just to look out and see the smiles because of our music so if we can do that with Santa and our music we're going to leave with a little bit of holiday spirit for sure,” they said.
