Salvation Army hands out winter gear in “Coats for Kids” drive

BISMARCK, N.D. - As the weather gets cooler, many are pulling the winter coats out of the closet. But what do you do if you don't have one?

The Bismarck-Mandan Salvation Army has spent the past two days handing out coats to people of all ages in their Coats for Kids campaign. Almost 2,000 coats and 1,000 winter accessories were donated by the community for the cause.

"When we need something it's there and that's really just a testament of a community that sees that we've got neighbors in need and people just wanting to step up and make something happen,” Lt. Sean Wise with the Salvation Army said.

If you would still like to sign up for a coat, the Salvation Army will continue to hand them out on Monday until they're gone.
