DICKINSON, N.D. - Hundreds of Catholic High School students made their way to Trinity High School in Dickinson for a unique competition. What did it look like? You'd have to see it to believe it.
A pie eating contest, lip-sync battles and an emcee. Not your average round of trivia.
"You have something of a rock concert and a high school dance, minute to win it games all kind of wrapped around a jeopardy style catholic quiz bowl," said Trinity Principal Fr. Kregg Hochhalter.
Six teams competed to see who knew the most about Catholicism in the "Know Your Faith" competition. Hundreds of their classmates went all in celebrating their team and faith.
"The fact that we're having fun learning about our faith and the energy everyone brings to it, there's no downers. Even if we lose, we're still having fun," said Joel Bry, senior at St. Mary's Central High in Bismarck.
"This is always the day we've looked forward to. Just from actually being a senior now and getting to set up and just get all of our schools together to be so alive in our faith is so amazing to see," said Tylla Roshau, Trinity senior.
From the first question, Gabriel Suda's classmates from Sacred Heart jumped to an early lead. This is his first competition.
"It's such a perfect way of not only adapting to the times, but just having a blast while doing it. All the kids here are from Catholic schools, praising God. But on the same token, we are here competing, too. It's the perfect blend and I love it," said Suda.
Sacred Heart in East Grand Forks Minnesota will be taking home the trophy and the bragging rights for the next year. Next year's contest will be in Fargo.
