MINOT, N.D. - Longtime Minot State booster Maynard Sandberg passed away on October 30 at the age of 88. University Vice President for Advancement Rick Hedberg described what he meant to not only the school, but to the Minot community.

"He was just a true Minot State fan, and really not just Minot, but a community leader. He wanted what was best for Minot as a whole. If you wanted a project done, you wanted Maynard on your committee to try to get it done. He was instrumental in a lot of things, not just at Minot State, but across our community," Hedberg said.

Sandberg also spearheaded the return of the Minot State Marching Band and established a Music Scholarship to honor his wife Jeanne after her passing.
