ROLETTE COUNTY, N.D. - Saturday marks three years to the date that Sheriff's Deputy Colt Allery gave his live in the line of duty for the people of Rolette County and North Dakota.
Allery was killed in a shootout with a gunman on Jan. 18, 2017. His death prompted thousands of law enforcement officers from across the country to attend his funeral service in Belcourt.
Allery was the first law enforcement officer in the history of Rolette County killed in the line of duty.
He was survived by his fiancé and five children.
On Tues., Jan. 21, there will be free donuts and coffee at the Rolette County Sheriff's Office in Rolla from 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., in honor of Allery. The event is sponsored by Leevers Foods of Rolla.
