Random act of kindness

MINOT, N.D. - As part of Live United day, the Souris Valley United Way is also encouraging a random act of kindness.

Earlier Friday, First International Bank and Trust helped a Minot police officer with his Cops and Kids program. The bank surprised Sgt. Burns with a $1,000 check.

"Every penny that we get for the Cops and Kids program goes towards the children. We don't send any money elsewhere. We don't put it anywhere else. Everything is volunteer based, so every penny goes towards the children. It comes from my hand right into the children's hand. And all the children are local children so it is staying local also,” said Paul Burns, Minot police patrol sergeant.

Live United encourages all community members to do one kind act Friday, whether that be a letter to a love one, a kind text or buying someone's coffee.
