A Watford City singer-songwriter and Nashville recording artist performed at the Heritage Center Sunday, telling the audience of the circumstances that brought her back home to North Dakota.

Artist Jessie Veeder had a free concert for a packed crowd.

She walked the audience through stories of growing up on a ranch and her decision to be a 7th generation rancher.

Veeder's new book, "Coming Home", explains how those family values influenced her adult life.

"I just started exploring what it means to be on a family ranch, a homestead place . A 100 year old ranch. To be the 4th generation on the place and sort of the magic in it and the responsibility of it," said Veeder.

Veeder was voted North Dakota's "Favorite Folk Artist" at the 2016 North Dakota Music Awards.
