A spokesman for the state Department of Environmental Quality says 1,980 barrels of produced water spilled last week from an abandoned disposal well in Burke County.
Some of that seeped into farmland.
Produced water is a byproduct of the fracking process.
The spill happened at Steel Reef, LLC’s Lignite Gas Plant on November 24.
North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality personnel say they are monitoring the investigation and remediation.
