Twenty barrels of produced water spilled in North Dakota's McKenzie County after a truck accident.

The truck was being operated by Blackshirt and was transporting produced water, which is a by-product of oil and gas development.

The truck crashed on Thursday about 9 miles southeast of Watford City. Icy road conditions are believed to be the cause.

The spill is impacting a small unnamed creek on U.S. Forest Service property. The creek discharges into Elkhorn Creek, more than 4 miles downstream.
