President Trump's 2018 budget could affect Bismarck Parks and Rec District

BISMARCK, N.D. - President Donald Trump's 2018 budget could affect organizations, including the Bismarck Parks and Rec District.

The parks and rec department received Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds, which is a grant President Trump wants to cut back.

The department used those funds throughout the years to improve the accessibility to their playgrounds and parks.

Since 2010, five projects were funded by the CDBG, totaling to $150,000.

"We would miss the funding. Each year we do apply for a project, we have a number of projects in our community that this program fits well with the project that we take a look at," said Randy Bina, Bismarck Parks and Recreation executive director.

A few other organizations that might be affected by the CDBG cuts are the Salvation Army, the Welcome House and Youthworks.
