Prairie Dog Bill funding update

During the last session, legislators approved to direct oil money to cities and counties through prairie dog funds but they won't see that money immediately.

It's designed to pay out in stages.

Since the new cycle began in August, $200 million have gone to the general fund, and another $100 million to the tax relief fund.

Treasury staff expect the money to reach municipalities by spring of 2021.

"The main thing I would caution is that these funds definitely aren't here yet. It's based on making sure the money comes into the fund first," said Ryan Skor, finance director.

Skor says that delays in the oil field could delay the infrastructure funding.
