UPDATE: Suspect taken into custody in stabbing incident

UPDATE (Sept. 5, 2018): The Mandan man accused of stabbing three people in Mandan is also accused of assaulting an officer during his arrest.

The Bismarck Police Department says they made a traffic stop near 12th Street Tuesday and found 34-year-old Cortez Lyons in the car.

Officer were looking for Lyons in connection to a stabbing in Mandan on Tuesday morning near 13th Street. Mandan Police say the victims are believed to have non-life threatening injuries.

During his arrest, BPD says they got Lyons out of the car to arrest him and he started pulling away. Lyons is accused of punching the officer two times and pulling on his beard.

BPD says they had to wrestle Lyons to the ground because he wasn’t complying and later cuffed him.

Lyons was arrested for preventing arrest, assault on a peace office, possession of methamphetamine, and an aggravated assault warrant out of Morton county.

UPDATE: The Mandan Police Department says they have located and taken Cortez Lyons into custody.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Mandan Police Department needs your help finding 34-year-old Cortez Ramon Lyons who is a suspect in an early morning stabbing in Mandan.

Police say officers found three people with knife wounds near the 300 block of 13th Street Northwest around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.

All three victims were taken to local hospitals to be treated for what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Lyons is an African American male, 5'7", 170 pounds, and is bald. Lyons was last seen wearing a blue checkered plaid style hoodie and black jeans.
