The Morton County Sheriff's Office says a deputy found $500,000 worth of methamphetamine during a traffic stop at around 1:30 Saturday morning.

Police say an officer stopped a rental car for speeding on I-94 near Mandan. A sheriff's deputy and K9 unit approached the vehicle when the dog alerted the officer there were drugs in the car.

After finding paraphernalia in the passenger compartment and taking the two people in the car into custody, the deputy says he found four bags containing four pounds of methamphetamine.

Police have charged the car's occupants with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.
