Pair indicted on federal child pornography charges

Two people who had been charged in district court in connection with a child sex crime investigation in Velva are now facing a federal indictment, according to the North Dakota U.S. District Attorney's office.

Federal prosecutors say Katie Heidinger made her initial appearance Feb. 11 on seven counts of producing sexually explicit images of minors and one count of distribution of sexually explicit images of minors.

Heidinger will be held without bond, pending trial.

A co-defendant, Derrick Walker, faces the same seven charges, along with a separate count of receipt of images depicting the sexual exploitation of minors, according to the prosecutor.
