Pair charged with trafficking a woman to North Dakota for prostitution

MINOT, N.D. – A Tennessee woman is in custody, and a warrant is out for another man, on charges the pair trafficked a woman to North Dakota to work in prostitution.

Prosecutors have filed a human trafficking charge against 37-year-old Andrea Beck, as well as Richard Spain.

According to the criminal complaint, last year, Beck convinced a woman to move from Omaha, Neb., to Fargo, N.D., to find a waitressing job.

After a couple of weeks, the pair told the victim she would have to start prostituting to pay for hotel fees, along with supporting a drug habit.

The pair placed ads for the victim, and set her up on "dates" in towns across the state, including Fargo, Minot, Williston, and Tioga.

Investigators found ads connected to the operation on Backpage.

Beck made her initial appearance on the charge Wednesday and remains in custody in the Ward County Jail.
