Pair arrested at Minot's Amtrak for marijuana appear in court

MINOT, N.D. – Two Indiana men were arrested last week in Minot with more than five pounds of marijuana on an Amtrak train made their initial court appearances Monday afternoon.

Minot Police arrested 26-year-old Patrick Sullivan and 27-year-old Joseph Mayer Thursday night for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.

Investigators say they responded to the Amtrak station shortly after 10 p.m. of Amtrak employees calling for three intoxicated people to be removed from the train.

An officer noticed marijuana in one of the men’s partially-open bags, and officers discovered five pounds of marijuana in multiple bags.

Both men remain in custody in the Ward County jail and will appear again in court Dec. 21.

Police also arrested and released a 30-year-old Vancouver woman on scene for a misdemeanor drug charge, which she will face in municipal court.

The woman was not affiliated with the men and had just met them on the train.
