BISMARCK, N.D. - One local business has turned a fun giveback into a community wide fundraiser.
Susan Schwieter of Lillians in Bismarck says both of her parents were cancer survivors. That inspiration led to the creation of an event involving more than 45 businesses around Bismarck and Mandan. It brings awareness to breast cancer month using paint cans. It's part of the Paint the Town Pink project that helps cancer patients with emotional therapy, gas cards and housing during treatment.
"I do what I can, I use the store as my platform to be able to give back to the community in lots of different ways," said Schwieter.
Donations in the paint cans will be accepted at businesses until the end of the month.
