A well-traveled POW/MIA flag stopped in Mandan.

North Dakota is the 23rd out of 50 states.

The journey gives veterans nationwide a chance to honor its significance.

"What we're doing is trying to show awareness all over for all of the MIA/POW's still missing throughout the years," said Warren Thomas, flag bearer.

The Defense POW/MIA accounting agency estimates there's still nearly 82,000 service members missing.

The flag's next stop is Great Falls, Montana.
