BISMARCK, N.D. - The organic health market Natural Grocers is opening up its third location in North Dakota at the old Staples space on South Washington Street in Bismarck.

Natural Grocers has locations in Grand Forks and Fargo. I spoke to Carmen Hoffner, manager of Bisman Community Food Co-Op who says they welcome competition.

Carmen Hoffner, manager of Bisman Community Food Co-Op says another health food store is going to be a little competition.

"We're just going to continue doing what we do best here at the co-op, we are a member owned grocery store so we focus on local and organic," said Hoffner.

May 16 is the co-op's open day anniversary, it's been open since 2016. Hoffner says it may have been harder on them if Natural Grocers tried to open three years ago.

"We were open first and able to establish our self over the past three years I think it will be a little easier for us to handle that competition," said Hoffner.

Brandon Jeffs, recruiter for Natural Grocers says he's excited for the employment opportunities the company will bring to Bismarck.

"We'll be doing a series of hiring events over the next few weeks and couple months as we gear up toward our grand opening and we will be hiring 18 full time positions for this new location," said Jeffs.

Jeffs says the date of the grand opening is still unclear, but the company plans to open later this year.

Jeffs says full time employees will receive benefits, and discounts in store.
