BISMARCK, N.D. - Some legislators on a conference committee over what conditions should be added to the state's medical marijuana program weren't comfortable with a lack of research regarding whether medical marijuana could help patients with opioid use disorder.
House Bill 1417 will allow for cancer patients to have enhanced amounts of products.
House Bill 1519 expands the list of acceptable conditions, but the list will not include opioid use disorder and withdrawal.
Some committee members were concerned that research was limited.
They did attach an interim study to the bill, and Rep. Matt Ruby, R-Minot, who wanted opioid use disorder added, says he hopes to revisit the issue next session.
