UPDATE: 17-year-old man taken into custody in relation to Williston shooting
UPDATE: The Williston Police Department says they have taken a 17-year-old man into custody.
He is currently being charged with murder. Additional charges are expected to follow.
Police have identified one of the victims as 19-year-old Matthew York of Williston, who is deceased. The other victim is in critical condition and has been identified as 19-year-old Parker Haider.
A witness said after he heard the gun-shots, he ran outside and saw the two victims laying on the ground: “I went to Matt and checked on him; he was hardly breathing. Then I went to Parker and saw he was doing okay and talking. So, I held Matt in my arms, trying to keep him awake and checking his pulse until officers arrived.”
ORIGINAL STORY: The Williams County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a murder suspect after a man was shot and killed and another was critically injured behind Cash Wise in Williston Sunday night.
Police say they received a report of gunshots around 8:30 p.m. Officers say after responding, they found two 19-years-old victims with gunshot wounds.
A witness says he saw a man run off after he heard what he first thought were multiple firecrackers. Then he heard yelling, and went outside to help the victims before officers arrived.
Law enforcement say they believe it was an isolated incident.
