Old fashion Christmas event supports therapy horses and local vendors

BISMARCK, N.D. - TR 4 Heart and Soul turned back time Sunday with an old fashioned Christmas, complete with ornament making, horse and sleigh rides, and roasting marshmallows.

The all-volunteer organization hopes to hit their $1,000 goal to support their therapy horses to help the disabled.

Local vendors were also on hand to help with those Christmas wish lists.

Katie Oakland, the owner of TR says the idea for this event comes from her childhood memories.

"I just think about when we were a kid on the farm and Santa coming over on Christmas. So we just kinda want to reiterate the importance of having fun, spending the holidays with your family and friends and those that are close to you," said Oakland.

Oakland has 12 volunteers that provide therapeutic riding to help adults and children with disabilities, learn, speech and behavioral challenges.
