Fifteen North Dakota law enforcement officers have graduated from the Drug Recognition Expert program.
Fewer than one percent of officers have such training.
The DRE program focuses on keeping people under the influence off the road.
"This comes down to meeting our mission of getting impaired drivers off the roads. Yes, it might help get some drugs off the roadways or off the streets, but this is getting those impaired drivers off the roadways," said Sgt. Travis Skar, North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The officers are now off to Phoenix to do drug impaired evaluations to finish up their certifications.
