If you're looking for a place to raise a family, a U.S. News study shows that North Dakota offers the best quality of life in the country

U.S. News analyzed seven factors of everyday life, and narrowed down the top states in the U.S.

This includes health care, education, economy, opportunity, infrastructure, fiscal stability and quality of life.

With all things considered, North Dakota came in at number four overall.

In the rankings for quality of life, you'll see several other mid-western states. Minnesota came in at number two, followed by Wisconsin, New Hampshire and South Dakota.

"I think the ranking of North Dakota being number one, and the other mid-western states ranking high as well. I think there's something cultural about that," said Visit Minot President Pam Karpenko.

Karpenko says that living in a smaller community and feeling safe is what North Dakotans enjoy most, something echoed by police.

"If you're in a major city of just a small community, the relationship to law enforcement and the communities they serve is much more trusting state than many other locations," said Minot Police Department Crime Prevention Officer Aaron Moss.

Although there are many miles between some of North Dakota's biggest cities, these North Dakotans wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

"Having lived in other states, I'm happy to say that I love to live here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else," said Moss.

"There's a lot of things to do here in North Dakota" said Karpenko.

Proving small-town American can produce some of the best places to live.
