HARVEY, N.D. - Dozens of guests walked across the red carpet Friday evening to kick off prom at Night to Shine at New Life on Main church in Harvey.
This is one of only two Night to Shine events in North Dakota.
Organizers have been planning the occasion since October. The church was selected from a pool of other venues who applied to host the event through the Tim Tebow Foundation. The event gives people with special needs the opportunity to enjoy a prom.
Guests say they're excited to make some new friends on this special night.
“It's bringing a lot of people together so you can meet new people and make new friends. It's just a good opportunity to meet other people,” said Brooke Beiswenger, one of the night’s guests.
Guests got to take pictures at the photo booth, eat fresh food, dance, and even take limo rides just like prom night.
More than 130 volunteers came together to make this night possible.
Organizers say that without the help from the community, this night might not have happened.
“We've been able to pull from the community and we've had such big support from the area. Volunteering to help out, bringing things that we need. We had a dress drive so some people brought dresses for our guests to look through,” said Annie Larson, organization team.
Organizers say they're ready to start applying to host Night to Shine next year.
The other Night To Shine event was in Fargo.
