New attorney in Minot murder conspiracy case

MINOT, N.D. – A woman waiting to be sentenced for her role in a Minot murder conspiracy will do so with a new attorney.

The courts have assigned defense attorney David Ogren to the case of 27-year-old Cynthia Wilder after her previous attorney Patrick Waters had to withdraw from the case.

Last November, Cynthia entered Alford pleas to charges of helping her husband Richie Wilder, Jr., plan the murder of his ex-wife Angila in 2015, along with a botched attempt at breaking Richie out of county lockup.

Richie, who is currently serving a life sentence, will appeal the conviction to the North Dakota Supreme Court later this month.

The judge cancelled Cynthia’s March sentencing. A new date has not been set.

Cynthia could face life in prison on the AA-felony conspiracy to commit murder charge.

The courts have filed the results of her pre-sentence investigation, though the documents are not public.
