New Town man pleads guilty to second degree murder

NEW TOWN, N.D. - A New Town man has pleaded guilty to second degree murder in federal court.

Court documents say on May 25 at a house in New Town 27-year-old Donovan Duchaine killed a man by stabbing him in the neck with a knife.

Duchaine left the scene and led law enforcement on a chase which ended near Velva after multiple spike stripes were used.

Duchaine was also charged with assault with a dangerous weapon but the charged was dropped as part of the plea agreement.

A sentencing hearing is set for July 29.
